Firearms Permit Application Now Submitted Online
As of February 2019, the process of submitting a Firearms Application has been updated. Prior to applying for a firearms ID card and / or Permit to Purchase, it is highly recommended that you contact Police Records at 609-267-3000 ext. 140. If you have previously applied using the online system, you can begin your process by submitting your application online at the New Jersey State Police Firearms Application & Registration System (FARS) website (see the web address / link provided below).
*DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS, YOU MAY EXPERIENCE A DELAY IN THE NORMAL PROCESSING TIME OF SUBMITTED APPLICATIONS. ALSO, ALL PROCESSING FEES FOR APPLICATIONS WILL BE COLLECTED AT YOUR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT DATE & TIME TO RETRIEVE YOUR APPROVED DOCUMENTS. A POLICE RECORDS REPRESENTATIVE WILL CONTACT YOU TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ONCE YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION HAS BEEN RECEIVED FROM THE NJSP AND ALL LOCAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND APPROVED. NO APPLICATION WILL BE “RUSHED” FOR ANY REASON. APPLICATIONS ARE PROCESSED IN THE ORDER IN WHICH THEY ARE RECEIVED & COMPLETED, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Fees and documents will be accepted, processed and distributed by Police Records Personnel only.
